The popular English singer and songwriter James Arthur has seen his gambling habits put to the test during the coronavirus lockdown. Reportedly, the 33-year-old Arthur gave in to the stress he felt during the Covid-19 crisis and got “carried away” on playing on poker apps during the period of social distancing. He got so addicted to using the app that he spent £370 every couple of hours on the apps.
James Arthur himself revealed that at the beginning of the lockdown associated with the coronavirus pandemic he got so hooked on the PokerStars app that he used to be entering $500 tournaments every couple of hours. He also said he was literally spending the whole day on the application.
The famous singer shared that he started spending so much time on the app that he even deleted it for a while when he realised he was getting “a bit carried away”. Despite him spending so much time and money gambling, Arthur claims he does not have a gambling problem. He, however, shared that he started smoking cannabis again during the Covid-19 lockdown as a way to escape boredom and stress. He also started eating “irresponsibly” during the stay-at-home period in the UK.
In an interview, the musician confessed that he managed to come to his senses and started making music again when the lockdown was halfway through. As shared by James Arthur himself, previously, a large sports betting company removed his account from several of its online gambling platforms after he generated a few significant wins on football matches.
The Musician Previously Got into Bet Due to Unhealthy Gambling Habits
The English singer’s confession about spending much time and money on poker apps comes only a few months after he admitted to losing approximately £300,000 on gambling applications. At the time, the 2012 X Factor winner said that he simply did not realise that placing a few large wagers on football matches was causing him financial trouble.
As mentioned above, he insisted that he was not addicted to gambling but also shared that he considered it a good thing that he got suspended from using mobile gambling apps. Arthur, who has previously opened up about some other addictions, as well as facing depression and anxiety, further shared that he got into debt as a result of gambling and placing wagers on football matches. He also explained that he had a few big bets, which got him into debt of about £200,000-£300,000.
This was not the first time the much-loved English singer and songwriter got into trouble because of his fascination with betting applications. Last year, he got suspended from an app for generating a massive win after placing wagers on football matches. At the time he revealed that he had gotten a few “massive wins” on football matches on a number of apps. However, operators got him banned from their apps – a move that he now considers a blessing, as it meant that he was unable to place large bets on such gambling platforms.
